August 7, 2001 - Clear sunny skies this morning 53 degrees F, high in Long Beach 68.

We left Pacific City at 9:00 and after road crews every five miles with a flagger we arrived at Pegg’s RV Park just north of Long Beach at 12:30. The wind blew pretty good most of the way which slowed us down a little also. Going over the Columbia River on the Astoria Bridge was really fun with winds gusting to around 35 MPH.
Pegg’s RV Park is one of those little beach side camping places you see with side be side campers. We got the best spot in the park on the end closest to the ocean. It has full hook-ups including sewer and cable TV. We hooked up the TV, turned it on, saw that nothing has changed and turned it off. The facilities are clean and it will be just fine for exploring the Long Beach area.

We took a quick hike out to the beach and saw where it gets its name. It is the longest beach in the world. Just like in Oregon the beach combing is pretty slim. The sand is really fine and the beach is really flat.

After our little walk it was, you guessed it, Mocha time. Then a wonderful steak dinner followed by a lazy evening.

On to day six.
