This project would make a great gift for your mother on Mothers Day. You may need a little help from dad but hey, that's what dad's are for. One of the things you'll need help with is going to the store to get some supplies.
Here's what you'll need:
- An empty 1 gallon plastic milk bottle.
- 1 1/2" Wooden Ball
- 1 1/2" Wooden Wheel
- 2 - 1/2" Wooden Beads
- 2 1/4" Clay Pot
- Small Straw Hat
- 1/4" Ribbon
- Pipe Cleaner (brown)
- 2 Small Beads
- Glue Gun
Cut out two hearts from an empty Plastic Milk Carton. Make them about 3 1/4" X 3 1/4". You can punch holes all the way around the edges for decoration. We used a small star punch.
Drill a small hole through the 1 1/2" Wooden Ball (get your dad's help).
Poke a small hole in the Straw Hat in the top near the front.
String 28" of 1/4" wide ribbon in the following order:
1/2" Bead, 1/2" Bead, Flower Pot (top down), 1 1/2" Wheel, 1 1/2" Ball and the Hat.
Tie a knot below the second bead about 7" from the end.
Tie another knot about 2 1/2" below the first know so that it will hold the lower bead and allow it to hit the sides of the pot making a bell sound.
Glue the Wheel to the bottom of the Pot and the Ball to the Wheel.
Glue the Hat to the Ball.
Tie the ribbon in a big loop so that it can be hung.
Tie another ribbon around the hat for a hatband.
Glue the two hearts at an angle to the back of the pot to make the wings.
String two small beads on the pipe cleaner for hands. Wrap the pipe cleaner around to the back of the pot and cut the ends even. Glue the pipe cleaners to the back of the pot.
We added a tiny flower basket for decoration before we glued the pipe cleaner.
That's it, now wrap it up for Mother's Day and watch the surprise when she opens it up.
